I was fishing with my dad, and the people near us had just caught a pretty big stingray (to be honest, I didn't even know that stingrays lived in those waters ovo')
so they caught it and i was all, "wow cool! i wanna see the stingray11!!!1"
they hauled it onto land. it was squirming and thrashing about. there were three people; one held down the stingray. the other raised a knife over its barbed tail. the third, i think, worked at the park/fishing site where we were at and was instructing the others on what to do with the stingray.
i heard them talking about how tasty stingray fins were.
the man brought down the knife and the barb was cut off, causing the stingray to move around even more. but i was curious and so being a curious 9 year-old i kept watching.
i was expecting the knife man to kill it and then bring it back home. but nooooo
instead, he cut off the stingray's fins. both of them. while it was still alive. it made a huge, bloody mess everywhere and the stingray flopped around, which must have been hard because it'd just had bOTH FINS CUT OFF AND BLOOD WAS COATING THE POOR THING'S BODY AND

and instead of doing the stingray justice and killing it to end its misery, they pushed the bloody, still very much alive stingray back into the water, where the blood was sure to attract all sorts of hungry creatures. whereupon, because the stingray was missing both fins and its barb, wouldn't be able to run away from it/attack it. they kept only the fins, because apparently stingray fins are tasty. they said so. and maybe the barb as a souvenir, though i can't be sure.
i'm just so frickin' angry at them

idk if that's standard stingray procedure or not but wtf man you dON"T DO THAT IF YOU"RE MORALLY CORRECT
anyway that's my little rant/vent on stingrays. haha, bet you didn't expect that huh

Hey! So I've had commissions on here closed for a while, and I've decided that now that I'm starting to slowly be more active on dA, I figured that I'd open them again.
Some ground rules:
I don't:
-do NSFW
-do excess gore (like intestines; blood is fine)
-realism
I do:
-fluffy/cute scenes
-fan-made characters
-reserve the right to turn down the commission if I'm uncomfortable with it
Please don't argue about the prices!
If your commission takes more than 60 days to finish, I will refund you back half of your points and put you at the top priority.

People also shark fin like that too. They just take off the fins and leave them to die in the water, and that's how some marine animals breathe is moving through the water to get the oxygen. So it's really cruel how people do that. Imagine yourself getting your arms and legs cut off then being thrown into the Ocean. It's might be illegal finning depending on the area.
